This beautiful church is located half a block from our hostel. You can see in the photo the WYD logo that decorates every church and altar in this city (and likely in the country).
Our group of 17 young adults doubled the weekly Mass attendance at St. Sebastian, so we are already making an impact on the local faith community!
The afternoon took us to the large park behind the Prado museum. Within this park are palaces, lakes and miles of shady walking trails. If it wasn't so hot, we would have rented some row boats and paddled across the lago. Instead, we made like the locals and had a little siesta.
We did eventually go to the Prado, but we waited until 6 PM when it's free. After enjoying a quick viewing of masters such as El Greco, Raphael and Goya, it was time to find la cena. We wandered into the Latino barrio in the hopes of finding an authentic tapas bar.
Well, there are plenty, but the good ones are small and packed. That didn't stop our group of 17 from squeezing into a particularly loud one and enjoying the music, food and atmosphere of this part of Spain.
And so, it's time for an early night (1:30 AM) in preparation for Days in the Diocese, which starts tomorrow. Oh, and by the way, our last 3 pilgrims arrived this evening, making us todos.
