Jamey Guerrero here from St Bernadette in Surrey.
So, this is it. Departure day! Our group has been preparing for this pilgrimage for over two years now and it's hard to imagine that today is finally the day. It felt as if this day would never come.
Throughout the last two years, our group has done so much preparation: financially, physically, and of course, spiritually. From talks from guest speakers, to major dinner-dance fundraisers, it has been a great journey for the entire group.
St Bernadette's last activity before the trip was collect personal intentions from the parishioners that we will take to WYD and pray over. The enthusiasm from the parish was absolutely incredible. Their kind words and their wishes just definitely made this activity the best thing we've done for the parish as a group. We are honoured to be taking their intentions and praying over them during the WYD vigil and in Lourdes later on the pilgrimage.
On behalf of all the World Youth Day pilgrims from Vancouver, I would like to say "Thank you" to all of you who have supported your own parish WYD groups during their preparation for their pilgrimage. Your support means so much to us and we are so blessed to have the support from you. We will all, of course, be praying for all of you as well as we journey to Madrid for World Youth Day.
